Maluma named an album 11:11 because the number kept following him

In 2019 the Colombian singer Maluma, one of the biggest names in Latin pop, released his fourth studio album. He called it 11:11, and when a journalist asked him why, his answer was a personal one.

“I was feeling like that number was following me everywhere I went. Every time I saw that number, I would make a wish, and every one of those wishes came true. I felt like it was God, or the universe was showing me that the number was important. It was a spiritual number for me, and then I decided to show the world what was happening with this crazy number.”

The album went to number one on Billboard’s Latin albums chart, and he took it around the world on the 11:11 World Tour. One of its singles is called “11 PM”, and on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart it climbed as high as number 11.
